Tahitian Vanilla Pod
Exquisite Tahitian vanilla pod from Terre Exotique, offering a delightful surprise with its distinct aniseed aroma and unique characteristics that set it apart from Madagascar vanilla. This vanilla tahitensis is notably thicker than bourbon vanilla, with flesh that carries a distinctive prune scent alongside stunning aromas of caramel and anise. The pod delivers intoxicating, surprisingly subtle floral and butyric (salted butter) notes that make it prized by discerning chefs.
Vanilla tahitensis originated between 1848-1850 when vanilla aromatics were introduced to Polynesia, resulting from successful crosses in the Leeward Islands. This orchid grows in humid valleys on humus-rich soils under shade houses or tender acacias. The pods are three to four times thicker than planifolia vanilla and are indehiscent — they don't split on the vine, allowing them to retain maximum aromatic power. Harvested with three months more maturity than vanilla planifolia.
Producer: Meticulously selected by Terre Exotique from high-quality Tahitian cultures meeting strict "Gourmet" or "TK" label standards. Each pod requires 6-12 months preparation followed by mandatory 90-day maturation. Based near Tours in France's Loire Valley, Terre Exotique sources directly from producers worldwide, maintaining close relationships to ensure quality and traceability.
Origin: Tahiti, Polynesia
Net: 6g - One Pod.
POSSIBLE TRACES OF ALLERGENS: celery, sesame, mustard, nuts.
