Hibiki Japanese Harmony
Origin: Japan
Hibiki Japanese Harmony is a meticulously crafted blend of at least ten malt and grain whiskies from Suntory's three distilleries: Yamazaki, Hakushu and Chita. Matured in five different cask types, including rare Mizunara (Japanese oak), American oak, sherry and bourbon casks, this expression was created to replace the discontinued 12-year-old in 2015. Led by Master Blender Shingo Torii and Chief Blender Shinji Fukuyo, the blend draws inspiration from Japan's twenty-four seasons, creating a symphony of flavours that embodies Suntory's Art of Blending. Bottled at 43% ABV.
Hibiki is Japan's most highly awarded blended whisky and stands amongst the world's most prestigious whiskies. The distinctive bottle design features twenty-four facets representing the Japanese seasons, whilst the liquid delivers exceptional balance between delicate floral notes, honeyed sweetness and the subtle influence of Mizunara oak. American white oak malts provide structure, rare Mizunara and sherry casks add complexity, whilst grain whiskies from Chita act as the foundation that harmonises the entire blend.
Best enjoyed neat or with a hand-carved ice sphere for the traditional Japanese whisky experience. Also excellent on the rocks or with a splash of water to open up the floral and honeyed character. Works beautifully in a Japanese-style highball with chilled soda water and ice, garnished with lemon peel. An exceptional pairing with seared tuna otoro, where the whisky's delicate sweetness and subtle oak complement the rich, buttery texture of the fish.
Producer: House of Suntory was founded in 1923 by Shinjiro Torii, establishing Japan's first malt whisky distillery at Yamazaki. Now operating three distilleries and led by third-generation Master Blender Shingo Torii, the company has pioneered Japanese whisky-making for over a century, combining Scottish techniques with Japanese craftsmanship and the unique influence of Mizunara oak casks.
